Russia reaffirms stance on Middle East conflict in talks with Israeli envoy
Russia has reaffirmed its position calling for a swift transition toward a political and diplomatic settlement of tensions in the Middle East during talks with Israel’s ambassador in Moscow.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, Deputy Foreign Minister Aleksandr Alimov met with Israeli Ambassador Oded Joseph to discuss the ongoing military and political situation in the region, TASS reports.
The ministry said Moscow “confirmed its principled position in favour of the earliest possible end to the confrontation and the transition of the conflict into a political and diplomatic settlement.”
It added that the talks also covered Russia–Israel cooperation at the United Nations and other multilateral forums.
The Foreign Ministry noted that the meeting took place at the initiative of the Israeli side.
