Russia restricts access to Latvian website
Roskomnadzor, at the request of the Prosecutor General's Office, has restricted access to the website of The Insider, recognized in the Russian Federation as a foreign media agent and an undesirable organization, follows on July 15 from data of a departmental service to check access restrictions to sites or Internet websites.
Access to theins.ru was restricted in accordance with the regulations for blocking sites containing calls for riots, extremism, and participation in mass rallies, TASS reports.
Roskomnadzor organizes restriction of access to such information based on the request of the Prosecutor General of the Russian Federation or his deputies.
Earlier on Friday, the Prosecutor General's Office declared the activities of The Insider and three other organizations, including Bellingcat, undesirable in Russia.
The Insider is a Riga-based online publication that specializes in investigative journalism.
On July 23, 2021, the Ministry of Justice of the Russian Federation included in the register of foreign mass media the Latvian legal entity The Insider SIA, which is the domain name administrator of The Insider online publication.
