Russia's Belgorod begins evacuation as Ukrainian troops intensify activity near border
On the morning of August 12, Vyacheslav Gladkov, the governor of Russia's Belgorod Region, announced the evacuation of residents from the Krasnoyaruzha district due to increased military activity by Ukrainian forces along the border.
In a video message, Gladkov described the situation as "alarming" and emphasized that the decision to relocate residents was made to ensure their safety, Caliber.Az reports, citing Gladkov's Telescope account.
"We are starting the relocation of people who live in Krasnoyaruzha district to safer places," he stated, noting that coordination efforts and the transportation of citizens were already in progress.
Earlier on the night of August 11 to 12, Gladkov also reported an emergency power outage in the Graivoron urban district, which left residents in thirteen settlements without electricity. Efforts to restore power were not immediately detailed.
