Russia’s Federation Council Speaker arrives in Istanbul for IPU Assembly

Chairperson of the Federation Council of Russia, Valentina Matviyenko, has arrived in Türkiye on a working visit to participate in the 152nd Assembly of the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU), which opens in Istanbul.

Matviyenko is expected to address the general debate of the Assembly’s plenary session, which this year is dedicated to the theme "Strengthening hope, ensuring peace and justice for future generations," and will also hold a series of bilateral meetings, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Federation Council of Russia.

According to the reports, Matviyenko is heading the inter-parliamentary delegation.

Senators included in the delegation will take part in the work of several IPU Standing Committees and working groups, thematic discussions, and meetings of IPU coordinating bodies, as well as the Forum of Women Parliamentarians.
