Russia's FSB prevents terror plot in Dagestan, two suspects neutralised
Authorities in the Republic of Dagestan, Russia, have prevented planned terrorist attacks coordinated by supporters of a banned international terrorist organisation, with two suspects killed during an attempted detention.
According to the Federal Security Service’s (FSB) Public Relations Centre, the operation was carried out in coordination with the Investigative Committee and the Interior Ministry of Russia, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The attacks targeted a religious site and a section of the Makhachkala–Derbent railway under the Makhachkala Territorial Directorate of the North Caucasus Railway.
During the arrest attempt near Ullu-Biyevo railway station, the suspects opened fire and were neutralised by law enforcement. No casualties were reported among officers or civilians.
Authorities discovered firearms, ammunition, and an improvised explosive device, which was safely defused by FSB bomb disposal units. Extremist literature and symbols associated with the terrorist organisation were also seized from the suspects’ residences.
