Russia's Sarmat missile system put on combat duty

The newest strategic missile system Sarmat has been put on combat duty, Roscosmos Head Yuri Borisov said.

He made the remarks during the “Share your knowledge” marathon, Gazeta.ru reports.

Sarmat is Russia's fifth-generation silo-based strategic missile system with a heavy multi-stage liquid-propellant intercontinental ballistic missile. This weapon was designed to replace the Soviet Voyevoda missiles. According to experts, the new Sarmat intercontinental ballistic missile will guarantee Russia's security in the next 30-40 years.
