Russia's Su-57 flies with new fifth-gen engine, Rostec confirms
A Russian Su-57 fighter jet has taken its first flight equipped with the new fifth-generation engine, known as “Product 177.”
The flight proceeded normally and according to plan, according to a statement from Rostec State Corporation cited by Caliber.Az.
The new engine is specifically designed for fifth-generation fighter jets, offering afterburner thrust of 16,000 kgf, increased operational lifespan, and reduced fuel consumption across all modes.
The corporation also announced an expansion of its production capacity, which will allow for increased deliveries of the Su-57 to Russian forces and the offer of export versions to foreign customers.
Rostec confirmed that the Su-57 meets all requirements for fifth-generation aviation systems, including stealth capabilities.
