Russia, Saudi Arabia ministers hold talks on centennial of diplomatic ties
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with his Saudi counterpart, Faisal bin Farhan Al Saud, focusing on the development of bilateral relations, the Russian Foreign Ministry reported.
The ministers discussed ways to strengthen multifaceted ties between Moscow and Riyadh, highlighting the importance of maintaining active political dialogue, Caliber.Az reports, citing the Russian Foreign Ministry.
They also addressed the expansion of trade, investment, and cultural cooperation.
The talks coincided with plans to mark the 100th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Russia and Saudi Arabia, established on February 19, 1926.
Lavrov and Al Saud exchanged views on regional and international issues, including the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, Iran’s activities, and the situation in Yemen.
Both emphasised the need for consolidated international efforts to reduce military and political tensions and prevent further escalation in the Middle East.
