Russian envoy: 43 civilians killed, over 230 injured over past week in Ukrainian attacks
More than 40 Russian civilians were killed and over 230 injured in attacks carried out by Ukrainian forces over the past week, according to Russia's Foreign Ministry.
Rodion Miroshnik, the Russian Foreign Ministry's ambassador-at-large, said that 277 civilians were affected by shelling and drone strikes during the reporting period. According to figures cited by the diplomat, 43 people were killed and 234 wounded, including 18 minors, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Miroshnik stated that the highest number of civilian casualties was recorded in Russia's Belgorod and Bryansk regions, as well as in the Russian-ocupied parts of the Donetsk, Zaporizhzhia and Kherson regions.
He said that 263 of the injured civilians, or 94% of the total, were wounded in attacks involving unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).
The Russian official also accused Ukrainian forces of targeting medical infrastructure in violation of international humanitarian law. He cited an incident at the Kamensko-Dniprovsk Central District Hospital in the Zaporizhzhia region, where a munition allegedly dropped from a heavy drone damaged the hospital's canteen, boiler room and an above-ground gas pipeline.
According to Miroshnik, Ukrainian forces also used drones to remotely deploy explosive devices in several regions. In the Russian-occupied part of the Donetsk region, two men were killed and a woman injured when explosives detonated. In Russia's Kursk region, a civilian lost a foot after stepping on an explosive device, while in the Kherson region one person was killed and three others were injured in a mine explosion.
