Russia says air defences down 17 Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s air defence forces shot down 17 Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles overnight across several regions, according to the Ministry of Defence of the Russian Federation.

In a statement issued on February 26, the ministry said the interceptions took place during the night, with drones destroyed over multiple areas in western and southern Russia.

Seven UAVs were downed over the Bryansk region, which borders Ukraine. A further four were intercepted over the Tula region, while two were shot down over the Kaluga region.

According to the ministry, one drone each was also destroyed over the Belgorod and Voronezh regions. Additional UAVs were reportedly intercepted over the waters of the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
