Russia says air defences shot down dozens of Ukrainian drones overnight

Russia’s Ministry of Defence says its air defence systems intercepted and destroyed dozens of Ukrainian drones during a large-scale overnight attack.

In a statement, the ministry said 27 fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles were shot down over several Russian regions and over the Sea of Azov.

According to the authorities, the heaviest activity was reported over Belgorod and Voronezh regions, where 10 drones were downed in each area. A further two drones were intercepted over Kursk region, and two over Lipetsk region.

Russian air defences also destroyed two drones over the Sea of Azov and one over Bryansk region.
