Russia seeks UK initiative to revive dialogue

Britain has signalled a desire to restore military contacts with Moscow but has yet to take any practical steps, Russia’s embassy in London said, responding to a report in The Times.

“British officials periodically send us signals indicating a desire to resume contacts, but they are not taking any practical action,” the embassy told TASS.

Moscow said London should take the initiative because Britain was responsible for ending military-to-military dialogue between the two countries.

The embassy said Britain expelled Russia’s military attaché in May 2024 on what it called a “contrived pretext”, disrupting the traditional channel of communication between the two defence ministries.

“Therefore, it is up to them to take the first step to ‘repair’ it,” the embassy said.
