Russia: Six people injured in chlorine leakage at industrial plant in Irkutsk
Six people have been injured after a chlorine leakage at an industrial plant in Bratsk, Irkutsk Region.
Four people have been hospitalized and two are being treated as outpatients, Report informs, citing TASS.
"As of now, there are six victims: four are in hospital, two are outpatients. The hospitalized are in the therapeutic department, their condition is closer to satisfactory and they are under observation by the doctor on duty," the Health Ministry said.
Chlorine dioxide was released on March 18 evening at one of the enterprises in Bratsk due to a leak in a pipe. The Bratsk investigative department of the Investigative Committee of Russia’s Investigative Committee for the Irkutsk region initiated an initial investigation into the incident. The prosecutor's office is also performing an inspection, which will assess compliance with the legislation on particularly hazardous production facilities and occupational safety. The leak has now been repaired and the company is operating normally.
