Russia suspends work at Iran’s Bushehr nuclear plant amid regional strikes

Russian state nuclear corporation Rosatom has suspended work at Iran’s Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, head of the company, Alexey Likhachev, said.

“Currently, there are 639 people in this zone. Some of our colleagues were in Tehran and are already leaving the country. Step by step, as the plant shuts down and during pauses between strikes, we will also carry out evacuation from the Bushehr site,” the company head Likhachev told reporters.

Rosatom said on ​February 28 it had evacuated nearly 100 people from ‌Iran, including ⁠employees' children and non-essential staff, but other personnel have remained at the plant, which was built by ​Russia in ​the ⁠Iranian port city of Bushehr.
