Russia tests novel strike drone Sirius
Russia has conducted the first flight of the newest strike unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) Sirius.
"The first flight of Sirius has taken place. The flight tests of the drone are continuing," TASS quotes the representatives of local industrial company Kronstadt as addressing the Army-2023 forum.
“Sirius is a newcomer to the Orion drone family. The UAV has two engines and a greater takeoff weight. The heavy reconnaissance and strike drones will be able to carry guided and unguided bombs and missiles. The maritime version of the strike UAV will be able to perform search, rescue and reconnaissance roles,” they said.
Earlier, it was reported that serial supplies of Sirius to the Russian troops were scheduled to begin in 2023.
The Army 2023 international military-technical forum is running at the Patriot Congress and Exhibition Center, the Alabino training ground and the Kubinka airfield west of Moscow on August 14-20. About 1,500 leading Russian defence enterprises and 85 foreign companies and businesses from seven countries are participating in the forum.
