Russia to invest heavily in satellite constellation development
Russian President Vladimir Putin has said that his country will allocate 116 billion roubles (nearly $1.28 billion) to expand the Russian satellite constellation.
This is necessary to create conditions for the use of digital services not only in large cities but also in rural settlements, remote areas and along federal and regional highways, Kommersant quotes him as addressing the Federal Assembly on February 29.
“Conditions for using digital services should be not only in megacities but also in small towns, rural areas and remote areas, along federal and regional highways, local roads. To do this, within the next decade, it is necessary to provide access to high-speed Internet throughout Russia. We will solve this problem, including through a multiple increase in our satellite constellation, and will allocate 116 billion rubles for its development,” Putin added.
