Russia to open consulate in Zangazur
Russian diplomats will arrive in the city of Gafan in Armenia’s Syunik region (Zangazur) on the issue of opening a consulate in September.
Russian Foreign Ministry's Fourth Department of the CIS Countries Director Denis Gonchar made the remarks in an interview with TASS.
“We are actively preparing for the full-scale opening of the Russian Consulate General in the city of Gafan, Syunik region. This initiative was approved by our leaders during their meeting in Moscow on May 25. As early as in September, Russian diplomats, who will deal with operational issues directly 'on the ground', will visit the region," Gonchar said.
Earlier, Deputy Director of the 4th Department of the CIS countries of the Russian Foreign Ministry Sergey Paltov at a meeting with the Governor of Syunik Robert Ghukasyan said that the first group of Russian diplomats could visit the Consulate General of the Russian Federation in Syunik this autumn.
