Russia, Türkiye discuss various issues, including Black Sea Kremlin spokesperson says

16 April 2024 16:49

Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov has confirmed that Moscow and Ankara are engaged in discussions covering a range of topics, including the Black Sea among the subjects of interest.

The confirmation comes amidst reports of negotiations between Türkiye, Ukraine, and Russia regarding a Black Sea navigation security agreement, Gazeta.ru reports.

Reuters reported this week that Türkiye had been in talks with Ukraine and Russia for the past two months regarding a potential agreement on Black Sea navigation security. However, sources indicated that the Ukrainian side had rejected the proposed agreement.

"I have nothing to say on this topic," Peskov told a briefing when asked about the reported negotiations. While refraining from commenting directly on the situation with Ukraine, Peskov acknowledged that Russia and Türkiye were indeed in communication, engaging in discussions that include matters related to the Black Sea.
