Russia urges Armenia to clarify National Assembly president’s speech Following scandalous statements
Chairperson of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly Valentina Matviyenko has said that the Federation Council will send a request to the Armenian National Assembly.
Matviyenko made these remarks during a plenary meeting, Caliber.Az reports.
The request will be sent to reveal the position of legislators regarding President of the Armenian National Assembly Alen Simonyan’s accusations against Russia.
Earlier, during a conference of heads of parliaments of EU member states in Spain, Simonyan accused Russia of “organising a campaign of threats and disinformation against Armenia”, “hybrid attacks” in anticipation of the Brussels meeting on April 5, and attempts to dictate Armenia’s interests.
Simonyan also announced “Russian invasion in Ukraine”.
In this regard, Matviyenko emphasised that Moscow and Yerevan are linked by “centuries-old friendship”. Therefore, Simonyan’s statement cannot be ignored. She expressed the hope that the Armenian MPs will assess such a speech.
