Russia urges to find perpetrator of Nord Stream pipeline sabotage
Dmitry Peskov, the press Secretary of the Russian president has said that before talking about the repair of branches of the Nord Stream gas pipelines, it is necessary to wait for the damage to be fully assessed.
Peskov made these remarks during a briefing with journalists on November 18, Gazeta.Ru reports.
“We should wait for the damage to be fully assessed. It is necessary to analyse these data on damage before experts give a conclusion on the prospects for recovery or not recovery,” the press secretary said.
He also noted that Russia welcomes the confirmation of data by Sweden about the version of the terrorist attack on the Nord Streams.
“The fact that there is data confirming a sabotage act or a terrorist attack, once again confirms Russia’s available information. It is very important not to stop, it is vital to find the one behind this explosion,” the spokesman added.
The Swedish security service stated on November 18 that the investigation of the emergency situation at Nord Stream confirms the version of sabotage.
According to the Swedish security service, “big damage to gas pipelines as a result of explosions was thoroughly documented” while investigating an emergency situation in the Baltic Sea.
The damage and gas leaks were observed on three strings of Nord Stream and Nord Stream 2 on September 26.
Seismologists recorded two explosions along the routes of gas pipelines. The Russian Federal Security Service filed a case on an act of international terrorism.
