Russia vetoes UN Security Council cross-border aid for Syria

Russia used its veto to vote in the UN Security Council on a Western draft resolution to extend a cross-border assistance mechanism in Syria.

China abstained in the vote, and the rest of the Security Council members supported the draft, TASS reports.

The document prepared by Ireland and Norway provided for the continuation of the mechanism for a year - until July 2023.
