Russian air defences down dozens of drones in overnight attack
Russian air defence forces intercepted and destroyed dozens of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) in a large-scale overnight attack, according to the Russian Ministry of Defence.
In a statement, the ministry said that between 20:00 Moscow time on April 16 and 07:00 on April 17, a total of 62 fixed-wing drones were shot down across multiple regions of the country.
The interceptions were reported over the Astrakhan Region, Belgorod Region, Bryansk Region, Voronezh Region, Kursk Region, Leningrad Region, Novgorod Region, and the Republic of Crimea.
“The duty air defence systems intercepted and destroyed 62 Ukrainian fixed-wing unmanned aerial vehicles over Russian territory during the night,” the ministry said in its statement.
No immediate information was provided regarding casualties or damage resulting from the attacks.
