Russian billionaire killed in motorcycle crash PHOTO
Russian billionaire Mikhail Smirnov was killed in a motorcycle crash in the Leningrad region after colliding head-on with an oncoming vehicle, local media and police said on Thursday, May 21.
The accident occurred in the settlement of Michurinskoye, where Smirnov was riding his motorcycle when he crossed into the opposite lane and crashed into a Haval SUV, Caliber.Az reports per foreign media.
Police said the businessman lost control of the motorcycle and died at the scene before emergency medical personnel arrived.

Smirnov was a prominent Russian entrepreneur and co-owner of Baltic Fuel Company (BTK), where he also served as chairman of the board of directors. Until 2024, he held a 50% stake in Neva Oil, a company within the BTK group.
Beyond the fuel sector, Smirnov had business interests in logistics, restaurants, real estate and finance. He ranked 108th on Russia’s list of billionaires at the end of 2024.
