Russian city of Orsk authorities urge residents to stay indoors amid drone threat
Authorities in the Russian city of Orsk have urged residents to remain indoors following a attempted drone strike by Ukrainian forces targeting local infrastructure.
Mayor Artem Vorobyov issued a warning via Telegram, advising people to stay away from windows and refrain from going outside, citing ongoing operations by Russian Defence Ministry forces in the area, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
Located in Orenburg Oblast near the southern end of the Ural Mountains, Orsk is Russia’s second-largest city in the region and lies close to the border with Kazakhstan.
The alert came after the Russian Defence Ministry reported a wave of Ukrainian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) attacks overnight and into the afternoon. According to Orenburg region governor Yevgeny Solntsev, Ukrainian drones attempted to strike an industrial facility in the region. Emergency services were dispatched to the site, but no casualties or disruptions to technological processes were reported.
