Russian defence minister arrives in North Korea
On November 29, Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov arrived in the Democratic People's Republic of Korea (DPRK) for an official visit.
During his stay, a series of bilateral meetings with senior military and political leaders of the DPRK are scheduled, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
An official welcoming ceremony took place at Sunan International Airport, located on the outskirts of Pyongyang.
The Russian delegation was greeted by an honour guard from the Korean People's Army. At the foot of the aircraft stairs, Belousov was welcomed by the DPRK’s Defence Minister, Army General No Kwang-chol.
To recap, Pentagon identified up to 12,000 North Korean troops in Russia's Kursk Oblast, where they are reportedly undergoing training in combat and support tactics, including drone operations and trench warfare. US officials, including Air Force Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder, stated that if these troops engage in combat against Ukraine, they will be deemed legitimate targets for Ukrainian forces. While unconfirmed reports suggest North Korean involvement in combat operations, Ryder noted the training likely aims to bolster Russian forces suffering heavy losses in the ongoing conflict.
The Pentagon views these actions as a demonstration of its commitment to global security and adaptability in response to evolving threats.
