Russian drone development firm chief wounded in assassination attempt
The head of a Russian unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV) development company has been seriously wounded in an apparent assassination attempt in the city of Tula.
Andrei Cherezov, head of the Russian Air Transport Laboratory, was attacked after arriving home late at night, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
The report said a gunman was waiting in the courtyard and fired three shots at Cherezov. His wife reportedly heard the gunfire, opened the door, and found him seriously injured. The attacker fled the scene.
Cherezov was taken to hospital in critical condition.
Russia's regional Investigative Committee has opened a criminal case on charges of attempted murder and is investigating the incident. Authorities have not announced any suspects or a possible motive for the attack.
