Russian shelling of Ukraine's Druzhkivka kills a civilian, sets fire on infrastructure PHOTO / UPDATED
The security situation in Ukraine’s Donetsk region remains tense as of January 6, following the Russian overnight attack.
Russian forces shelled settlements of the region 13 times over the past day, resulting in the death of a civilian, damage to residential and civilian infrastructure, and the evacuation of residents from frontline areas, the head of the Donetsk Regional State Administration, Vadym Filashkin, said on Telegram, per Caliber.Az.
The most severe consequences were recorded in the Pokrovsk district. In the city of Dobropillia, one person was killed as a result of shelling. Five private homes were also damaged.
In the Kramatorsk district, several settlements came under attack. In Sviatohirsk, a residential building was destroyed. In the Mykolaivka community, shelling damaged an enterprise, a shop, and vehicles. In Kramatorsk itself, an administrative building was damaged, while in Druzhkivka a residential house sustained damage.
The Bakhmut district was also shelled. In the village of Reznykivka of the Siversk community, a private house was damaged.
In addition to the destruction, the evacuation of civilians from dangerous areas continues. Over the past day, 68 people were evacuated from the frontline, including 25 children.

On the night of January 5 to 6, Russian strike drones attacked the city of Druzhkivka in Ukraine’s Donetsk region.
As a result, a residential building caught fire, Caliber.Az reports via Ukraine’s State Emergency Service.
However, emergency responders managed to extinguish the blaze quickly and prevent it from spreading throughout the structure.
In Sviatohirsk, while firefighters were extinguishing a fire in an outbuilding, a threat of shelling emerged. Rescuers withdrew to a safe distance and suspended firefighting operations.
