Russian envoy summoned to Armenia’s Foreign Ministry, protest note issued
Russia’s ambassador to Armenia, Sergey Kopyrkin, has been summoned to the Armenian Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
During the meeting, Armenian officials presented the ambassador with a formal note of protest, expressing deep indignation over statements aired on a program broadcast by a Russian state television channel, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
In a statement, the Armenian Foreign Ministry emphasized that the remarks in question constitute an unacceptable infringement on the sovereignty of the Republic of Armenia, amount to a hostile act, and grossly violate the fundamental principles underpinning friendly relations between Armenia and Russia.
The ministry further stressed that such statements are incompatible with the spirit of bilateral ties and undermine the foundations of mutual respect that should govern relations between the two countries.
