Russian FM: American media hesitant to back presidential candidates due to Russia links

Some American media outlets are reportedly hesitant to endorse any candidates in the upcoming presidential elections due to supposed connections to Russia, said Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova on her Telegram channel.

According to Zakharova, American newspapers, and media moguls, one by one, are refusing to support any candidate in the US elections, Caliber.Az reports.

“This time, they can’t support anyone because both are stamped ‘Russian’,” she asserted.

Zakharova noted, “Donald Trump has been designated as such by the American media industry, which has been fabricating tales about him for nearly a decade. Meanwhile, President Putin has promised to support Kamala Harris's candidacy. This is why the mainstream media in the States is in disarray. They’ve trapped themselves in a corner.”

She questioned the commitment of supposedly independent media, stating, “I have always been intrigued by what grounds, in a democratic society that Washington prides itself on, supposedly independent media pledge allegiance not to the sitting president, but to a candidate.”

Zakharova continued her critique by asking, “Isn’t this biased journalism? Isn’t this a business of placing assets in futures? Isn’t this direct influence on the audience under the guise of pluralism of opinions?”
