Russian FM, UAE counterpart discuss Hormuz security, humanitarian ties
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation on April 24 with the Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister of the United Arab Emirates, Abdullah bin Zayed Al Nahyan.
According to the Russian Foreign Ministry, both sides discussed expanding bilateral cooperation in line with presidential agreements, focusing on strengthening humanitarian ties and people-to-people contacts.
They also welcomed the upcoming entry into force of the free trade agreement between the Eurasian Economic Union and the UAE.
International issues were also addressed, including the situation in the Strait of Hormuz.
Both ministers expressed a shared view on the need to resume negotiations aimed at achieving a long-term and sustainable settlement of the crisis, taking into account the legitimate interests of all countries in the region.
The officials also reviewed the schedule of upcoming contacts between the two foreign ministries.
