Russian hockey player has his femoral artery severed by skate blade

Sergey Filatov, a player for Start Nizhny Novgorod, sustained a deep cut to his thigh, injuring his femoral artery, during a Russian Bandy Championship match, the team’s press service reported.
Filatov’s condition is stable, and he is conscious, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“Paramedics stopped the bleeding and began restoring blood loss. Sergey is now in the hospital operating room. The team doctor is with him, and everything possible is being done,” the statement said.
The injury occurred during the classification round match for 5th–8th places, in which Start played away against Yenisey Krasnoyarsk. The hosts won the game 10–5.
