Russian jet diverts to Makhachkala mid-flight to Yerevan
An airplane of Russian Aeroflot airline company travelling from Moscow to Yerevan has made an emergency landing in Makhachkala, according to the airline's press service.
“The airplane, performing flight SU1860 Moscow - Yerevan, made an additional landing at the airport of Makhachkala city due to the closure of the airspace over the Rostov region,” the statement said, Caliber.Az reports via Russian media.
The aircraft departed from Makhachkala to Yerevan at 17:08 Moscow time. It arrived at its destination at 19:10 Moscow time, the city airport's information service said.
The reason for the emergency landing was reportedly a lack of fuel, and the crew decided to land in the capital of Dagestan.
The airline has not yet given official comments on the matter.
