Russian lawmaker slams Armenian Speaker’s EAEU exit remarks as "incorrect"
Russian Federation Council Deputy Speaker Konstantin Kosachev has commented on remarks by Armenian Parliament Speaker Alen Simonyan regarding the country’s possible withdrawal from the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) and the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU).
Writing on MAX, Kosachev described Simonyan’s statement as “incorrect.” He noted that Armenia enjoys significant competitive advantages that support the development of its economy and social sector.
“This reality exists against the backdrop of a severe energy crisis in Europe and globally, triggered not by Russia but by other countries,” Kosachev added.
He also emphasised that the current price of Russian gas serves both as a stimulus for multiple sectors of the Armenian economy and as a crucial factor in the country’s social and political stability.
