Russian leader reviews situation related to Volgograd correctional colony
Head of the Russian Federal Penitentiary Service Arkady Gostev has delivered a report on the situation at Correctional Colony #19 near Volgograd to President Vladimir Putin at a meeting with members of the Security Council.
President Putin also indicated that he would review assessments from Interior Minister Vladimir Kolokoltsev and Director of the Federal Security Service Alexander Bortnikov, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The president noted that Head of the National Guard Viktor Zolotov would soon meet with him to provide further details on the situation.
Several inmates took staff members hostage during a disciplinary committee meeting at Correctional Colony #19 in the Volgograd region. The circumstances of the incident are being established. The colony #19 is located in the town of Surovikino in the Volgograd Region. There are over 1,200 inmates.
