Russian MFA lodges protest against Estonia, expells its diplomat
The Chargé d’Affaires of Estonia in Moscow, Marek Ühtegi, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry, where he was informed of the expulsion of an Estonian embassy diplomat from Russia as a reciprocal measure.
“On September 4, the Chargé d’Affaires of Estonia in Russia, Marek Ühtegi, was summoned to the Russian Foreign Ministry. The head of the Estonian diplomatic mission was presented with a strong protest in connection with the August 13 declaration of persona non grata, without any grounds, of a Russian embassy diplomat in Tallinn,” the Russian Foreign Ministry said, Caliber.Az reports.
“On the basis of the principle of reciprocity, the Russian side stated that a diplomat of the Estonian embassy in Moscow will be expelled from Russia,” the Ministry said.
The Foreign Ministry also noted that “the Estonian side was informed that any hostile actions by Tallinn will not go unanswered.”
