Russian MFA refutes AI-generated deepfake of Lavrov's interview VIDEO
The Russian Foreign Ministry has claimed that an AI-generated video of the country's Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov is circulating on social networks.
"Fake videos are circulating on social networks featuring a clip from the Lavrov interview, whose creators have used AI to generate the text far from reality," the department warns in a statement published in the "Refutations" section.
In the clip, Lavrov says that Russia has no problems with countries joining the European Union, as opposed to NATO enlargement, but that the EU has "changed" in recent years.
The original video of the Russian foreign minister's interview for a documentary dedicated to the 25th anniversary of NATO's aggression against Yugoslavia on March 24 was used as the basis for the deepfake, the ministry said, suggesting that this excerpt be compared with the original video.
