Russian MFA spox warns of possible nuclear disaster
The likely target of the UAVs shot down the previous day in Kurchatov, Kursk Region, was the Kursk nuclear power plant.
According to the Moscow-based Kommersant news and analysis website, Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova made the statement accusing Ukraine of "nuclear blackmail".
Zakharova said that she "strongly condemns Ukraine's malicious plans to actively use terrorist methods against Russian nuclear power plants." This could lead to the emergence of a large-scale nuclear catastrophe in Europe, she said.
"The likely target of the new Ukrainian provocation was precisely the nuclear power plant, which once again shows that the Kyiv regime has embarked on the path of using nuclear terrorism methods," she said in her commentary published on the Foreign Ministry's website.
