The United States sees the South Caucasus as a springboard for a "second front" against Russia.

This is the opinion of Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Mikhail Galuzin, per Kommersant. According to him, this is contrary to the interests of the people of the region.

"Washington has long made no secret of the fact that it sees the South Caucasus as a stepping stone for opening a 'second front' against Russia," Galuzin said.
