Russian official: CSTO the only force capable of securing Armenia
Vladimir Dzhabarov, First Deputy Head of the Federation Council's Committee on International Affairs, has asserted that only the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO) can ensure Armenia's security.
Dzhabarov voiced his hope that the current disagreements between Armenia and the CSTO would eventually be resolved, stressing that he sees no other force capable of protecting the country from external threats other than the CSTO, Caliber.Az reports per Russian media.
Dzhabarov responded to Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan's remarks, in which he expressed increasing difficulty in rejoining the organization:
"Who could replace Russia or the other CSTO members? The Americans? We have seen how they replaced our country in Ukraine. Or perhaps the French, who are themselves retreating from Africa? Frankly, I believe this will pass, and I hope that common sense will prevail in our relations."
The comments come amid growing tensions between Armenia and the CSTO, as Armenia increasingly seeks alternative security arrangements.
However, Dzhabarov's position underscores the strategic importance of the CSTO in maintaining Armenia's security against external threats.
