Russian serviceman found dead in Armenia
The body of a 23-year-old Russian serviceman stationed at the 102nd military base has been found in the Armenian city of Gyumri, local authorities have confirmed.
According to the Investigative Committee of Armenia, the discovery was reported at approximately 5:20 PM by 23-year-old Russian citizen Vitaly Shevchenko. He called the police to report finding a body in a hanging state at a residence on Aram Khachaturyan Street in Gyumri, Caliber.Az reports.
Law enforcement officers and investigators arrived at the scene and found the body of Alexey Yampolsky, a 23-year-old Russian citizen, in the apartment.
A preliminary medical examination revealed no signs of violence on the body, according to the forensic expert's initial findings. Authorities have launched a criminal case to investigate the circumstances under charges of suicide or attempted suicide, with a forensic examination of the body underway to determine the cause of death.
Photojournalist Gagik Shamshyan reported that both Yampolsky and Shevchenko were servicemen at the 102nd Russian military base located in Gyumri.
