Russian soldier found dead with stab wounds in Gyumri
A Russian soldier serving at the 102nd military base in Armenia was found dead on the evening of July 24 in the city of Gyumri, under circumstances that are now under investigation.
Law enforcement authorities received operational information at approximately 8:30 p.m. regarding the discovery of a body near an unfinished building located on Bulvarain 1 Lane in the Mush-2 district of Gyumri, Caliber.Az reports, citing Armenian media.
The information was confirmed by photojournalist Gagik Shamsyan, who stated that police and patrol units responded to the scene after receiving operational alerts.
Responding to the scene, police and patrol officers found the lifeless body of a man bearing stab wounds on his arms. Initial reports indicate that the deceased was a serviceman at the 102nd Russian military base stationed in the city.
Early findings suggest the deceased was serving at the 102nd Russian military base stationed in Gyumri. His identity has been officially confirmed as K. Antonenko, a 24-year-old Russian citizen.
Authorities have launched an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death. It remains unclear whether the incident was the result of a violent altercation, self-inflicted injuries, or other causes. A forensic examination is expected to provide further clarity.
