Russian soldiers sentenced for killing journalist Russell Bentley
A court has sentenced four Russian servicemen to prison terms ranging from 1.5 to 12 years for the murder of journalist Russell Bentley.
According to Lenta.ru, three of the convicted will serve their sentences in high-security penal colonies, while one will serve time in a settlement-type colony.
Bentley, nicknamed “Texas,” went missing on April 8, 2024, shortly after an artillery strike in the Petrovsky district of Donetsk region. His friends and wife, Lyudmila, conducted an active search. Subsequent investigations revealed that four servicemen from the 5th Motorised Rifle Brigade of the so-called Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR) were involved in his disappearance and subsequent killing, leading to the opening of a criminal case.
