On the air of one of YouTube channel, Poklonskaya said: “This letter Z symbolizes tragedy and grief for both Russia and Ukraine. Why? Because Russian soldiers and Russians are dying, and parents receive different news. This is trouble. After all, the Ministry of Defense says: so many died, so many wounded. Is this the good news? Not at all".

In turn, the immediate boss of Poklonskaya, the head of Rossotrudnichestvo, Yevgeny Primakov, an ex-deputy of the Russian Duma from the United Russia party, commented extremely sharply on her words:

“The symbol Z, which marks our military equipment, as well as V, have become the most popular symbol of support for our army and the forces of liberation, have become symbols of the very liberation of Ukraine from the obvious evil - terrorists and Nazi gangs of the regime. I can’t call the “AFU” and other armed formations otherwise, because I consider them criminal. And although the leadership has said several times that the task of regime change is not worth it, I think it is strange to maintain the legitimacy of a regime that commits war crimes, which needs to be said loud and clear.

If we talk about negotiations, that they cannot be conducted with representatives of an illegitimate regime, then many precedents indicate the opposite: negotiations are underway with terrorists, unfortunately, with Nazi gangs, and with "illegitimate" bodies, as happened in the Caucasus , in the Middle East. Negotiations regarding the conditions for the surrender of bandit formations and ensuring security for the civilian population.

As for a certain voluntarism and expression of freedom of opinion by civil servants in connection with the performance of their duties in a federal agency, I consider the interests of the Agency and the state that it represents to be a priority” Primakov promised.

The Latin letters Z and V have become for Russians a symbol of the war that Russia has been waging in Ukraine since February 24. These letters are applied by Russian servicemen to military equipment. The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation explained that the letter Z means "For the victory", and V - "Strength in truth" and "The task will be completed."

The Verkhovna Rada, in turn, passed a law banning the symbols Z and V "without a legitimate context or in the context of justifying" Russia's actions in Ukraine or any other military actions.
