Russian Su-25 jet crashes into Sea of Azov

Russia's Southern Military District has said that a Russian Su-25 warplane has crashed into the Sea of Azov.

"A Su-25 attack plane suffered a crash over the Sea of Azov during a training flight in Krasnodar Territory on July 17," TASS news agency reports quoting a statement.

The report said engine failure was believed to have been the cause.

A separate TASS report, citing local authorities, said that the pilot had managed to eject and videos circulating on social media show a parachute coming down into the sea. However, the pilot reportedly died having been trapped under the parachute and swallowing too much water.
