Russian, Syrian defence chiefs focus on regional security, military cooperation
Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held high-level talks in Moscow with his Syrian counterpart Murhaf Abu Qasra, to explore future avenues of defence cooperation and review the evolving security landscape in the Middle East.
The meeting underscored both sides’ commitment to maintaining close strategic ties amid ongoing instability in the region, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
“On July 31, 2025, in Moscow, Russian Defence Minister Andrei Belousov held a meeting with the Minister of Defence of the Transitional Government of the Syrian Arab Republic, Murhaf Abu Qasra,” the official statement by Russian Defence Ministry read.
“During the talks, the parties discussed the prospects of cooperation on the line of defence agencies and the situation in the Middle East region.”
