Russian teen arrested over fake school bomb threat
A 14-year-old from Russia’s Lipetsk region has been detained for sending a false threat about a planned school explosion in the Kirov region.
Police reports indicate that the teenager posted on a Telegram channel dedicated to the school’s activities, demanding moderator privileges from the channel administrator. He allegedly threatened to detonate the school if his demand was not met, Caliber.Az reports, citing Russian media.
The administrator, a fellow student, immediately informed the school principal, who contacted law enforcement authorities. Authorities conducted a thorough inspection of the school building and grounds, finding no explosives.
The suspect was quickly identified and taken into custody. During questioning, he told investigators that the threat had been “just a joke.”
A criminal case has been initiated against the teenager under the law governing knowingly false reports of terrorist acts.
