Russian tourist killed in road accident in Thailand
A Russian tourist has died after being struck by a minibus on the resort island of Phuket in Thailand, Russian media reported on February 10.
According to Life.ru, citing the Telegram channel SHOT, the incident occurred during the daytime near the Almerol Hotel on a busy street. The 39-year-old Russian national was standing on the pavement talking with friends before stepping onto the roadway, where he was hit by a passing minibus.
Eyewitnesses called emergency services, and the man was taken to Chalong Hospital. However, doctors were unable to save him, as the injuries he sustained were incompatible with life.
Local authorities in Thailand have notified the Russian embassy of the incident. The victim’s body is expected to be handed over to his relatives in the near future.
