Saudi, South Korean defence ministers condemn Iranian attacks
On March 12, Saudi Arabia's Defence Minister, Prince Khalid bin Salman, held a phone call with Shin Won-sik, condemning Iranian attacks on the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
During the conversation, Prince Khalid discussed recent regional developments and their implications for both regional and international security and stability, SANA reports.
This call is part of a series of high-level Saudi contacts since Iran began launching waves of ballistic missiles, cruise missiles, and drones against Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries immediately after the U.S.–Israeli strikes on Iran began on February 28, 2026.
Saudi air defences have repeatedly intercepted Iranian projectiles targeting military sites (including Prince Sultan Air Base in al-Kharj), oil infrastructure (Shaybah field), and other areas.
Similar Iranian attacks have hit the UAE, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Qatar, with varying degrees of success in interception.
Saudi Arabia has publicly warned Iran to “avoid miscalculation” and described the attacks as threats to regional and global stability.
