Second fire hits under-construction bridge in Kazakhstan PHOTO / VIDEO
A second fire broke out on February 1, 2026, at a bridge under construction over the Irtysh River in Pavlodar, Kazakhstan.
The regional emergency department stated that the blaze occurred on pier No. 5, igniting insulation, protective covering, and wooden formwork structures, Caliber.Az reports per Kazakh media.
Firefighting efforts were complicated by hard-to-reach areas at height, but crews quickly contained the fire and fully extinguished it over an area of around 100 square meters.
Officials confirmed that the flames did not spread to other parts of the bridge, and no injuries were reported.
Preliminary investigations suggest the fire was caused by violations of fire safety rules during the operation of electrical equipment.
Authorities emphasised that there is no direct connection between this incident and the fire on January 31 at pier No. 4, which also involved insulation and wooden formwork elements.
