Secretary Blinken sends message to FM Lavrov through Egyptian colleague
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov has disclosed, that he received an indirect message from US Secretary Antony Blinken, passed on through the head of the Egyptian Foreign Ministry, Sameh Shoukry.
As reported by Kommersant, Lavrov stated that the main content of the message was a call for Russia to leave Ukraine.
"We have always stated, that Russia was ready to listen to any serious, and here I will highlight this word, offer, which is aimed at resolving the current situation in its comprehensive context. In this regard, we have heard once again, through the message passed on by the honourary minister, that Russia has to stop, Russia has to leave, and then everything will be alright", Minister Lavrov said, following talks with the Egyptian minister in Moscow.
At the same time, according to the Russian Foreign Minister, Blinken did not reveal the second part of this message, but it was presented by NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg in the course of his visit to South Korea. "He said in one of his speeches that Russia must lose, Russia must be defeated, and that the West cannot allow Ukraine to lose because then the West would lose. And then, according to Stoltenberg, the whole world would lose", Lavrov recalled.
Caliber.Az points out, that Egyptian Minister Shoukry met the US secretary on January 29 in Egypt and has departed for Moscow for talks with Sergey Lavrov on January 31.
